General
What is Voxera?
Voxera is a desktop voice-input app for Windows and macOS. Press a hotkey to record; your speech is transcribed and, when needed, refined with an LLM, then inserted as text into the app you’re using. You can also give voice instructions on a text selection.
How is it different from other dictation apps?
Voxera keeps a slim floating bar and one hotkey for caret dictation, optional live streaming for long takes, an optional multilingual hub for cross-language output, nine locked transcription languages, a custom dictionary, voice-triggered shortcuts, and AI proofreading on Free and Pro. Free and Pro share the same features; the difference is monthly usage (1,500 words on Free, unlimited on Pro).
What is the Multilingual hub?
Use it when you want to speak in one language but paste polished text for another—handy for email and chat across locales. You still lock one of nine transcription languages for recognition; the hub helps with output language and tone. It works alongside live streaming, which feeds transcribed chunks to the caret during long recordings.
Can I use voice instructions on selected text in every app?
Not in every app. Speaking to edit highlighted text works in many supported apps only—some code editors, including Visual Studio Code, often cannot handle selection and replacement through the OS in a stable way.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free has the same features as Pro, including AI proofreading, custom instructions, live streaming dictation, the multilingual hub, voice editing on a selection, screen context, and up to 800 dictionary entries. The difference is usage: Free includes up to 1,500 words per month (see the pricing section for how words are counted). Pro is unlimited usage (currently $5/month or $48/year—see checkout).
Which platforms do you support?
We support Windows and macOS. The macOS build is coming soon and is not available yet.
Accounts & billing
Why is there no separate Voxera username and password?
We don’t issue a separate Voxera username and password. You sign in with Google, Microsoft, or Apple via OAuth, which keeps accounts simple and reduces account-management overhead.
What happens if I click “Upgrade to Pro” on the website?
You’ll open the Upgrade page and pick Google, Microsoft, or Apple to sign in. Then you’re taken to our payment provider. If you’re on the free plan, you’ll reach the Pro plan selection page; if you already subscribe to Pro, you’ll reach the subscription management page.
Troubleshooting
My hotkey conflicts with another app.
Change the recording hotkey or keybindings in Voxera’s settings. If a browser or suite is using the same key, change one side so they don’t overlap.
Transcription fails or is slow—what should I check?
Make sure you’re online. Traffic uses HTTPS to the Voxera API proxy. Corporate firewalls or SSL inspection may slow or block requests. On the free plan, also check you haven’t hit the monthly word limit.
Where is my data stored?
Transcription and related processing run through Voxera’s backend as configured in the app. When you’re signed in with Google, Microsoft, or Apple, settings, dictionary, and transcript history are tied to your account and synced to the cloud by default (a local cache may remain). See the privacy policy and in-app notices for details.
